I was one of 200 teachers from across the country chosen to attend the Research Teachers Conference in Washington, D.C. in October. In the two day conference, I will have an opportunity to learn best practices for bringing solid research practices into my science classes, with a focus on Alternative Energy.
While there I will also be spending a day on Capitol Hill meeting with education and agricultural advisers to Sen. Ron Wyden and Sen. Jeff Merkley. I look forward to the opportunity to give the Dufur prospective on education to the D.C. staff for our elected officials. In July I was awarded a placement in #CSWeek for Exploring Computer Science at Colorado School of the Mines in Golden, CO. Over a week I was able to meet and discuss curriculum and topics in computer science education with educators from all over the country. I'm extremely excited to bring this program and adapt it to the needs of Dufur School!
