Government
We as Americans live in a participatory democracy, and this course is designed to teach the history, structures, functions of that democracy as well as offer ample opportunities for participation.
As part of this course students will regularly correspond or speak with local and national government officials and employees and will attend public events. Participation in these activities is a requirement of this course. In past years, Dufur's Government Class has attended town halls for our US Representative and Senator, attended Rural Oregon Day at the state capital, met with state level representatives and senators, held a mock trial with the county deputy district attorney, and corresponded with multiple elected officials. |
